How to use the Lexsee Lens to look up words and practice their pronuciation

Look up a word using the Lexsee Lens

You can click any word on the page to open the Lexsee Lens. The Lens has two main features—contextual and general definitions of the word, and pronunciation tools.

Defintions and practice

At the top of the Lens, you'll see the word you clicked on. Lexsee shows phonetic syllables of the word, as well as icons of nouns that contain the same sound (phoneme) for reference and comparison. The icons help the user to find phonetic connections with familiar objects.

Hear a word, practice pronunciation

To hear how the word is pronounced, press play. The word will be pronounced out loud, then repeated by its phonetic syllables, and then pronounced again. It can be stopped at any point.

To practice pronunciation, press the microphone icon and speak the word out loud. Lexsee will check your pronunciation by phoneme, and provide feedback in the form of green checkmarks for correctly pronounced phonemes and those marked in red. You can repeat practice as many times as necessary or desired.
